Joson Sanon is the No. 11 overall player in the 2025 On3 150. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is a junior at Saxon’s River (VT) Vermont Academy and the No. 5 shooting guard in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking.

“I get to my spots, and I play defense with intensity,” Sanon told On3. “I play hard. I’ve become more of a two-way player this season and I’m not only focusing on scoring the ball, but playing defense. I watch a lot of Bennedict Mathurin on the offensive end. He makes quick decisions, things are never too fast for him, and he’s got good size.”

Sanon recently played in the National Prep Showcase with his Vermont Academy (VT) team where he finished with 17 points and six rebounds in the win. On3 recently caught up with Joson Sanon after this live viewing to talk about his recruitment.

“I’ve taken one official visit so far, I went to Oklahoma State,” Sanon said. “I’ll be going to Arizona on an official visit this weekend, and to LSU next week. I don’t have anything set with Indiana or Georgia, but I am hearing a good bit from them too.”

Joson Sanon Breaks Down Oklahoma State

“Oklahoma State, they play fast and they play how I like to play,” Sanon said. “They like to space the floor a lot. They have versatile bigs and they like to play them off the wing. I mean, they space the floor and they play fast. The atmosphere, like the student section, they were great. Some of them were chanting my name, that was tough.

Coach (Mike) Boynton, likes my jump shot and everything. But he reminds me about my defense, he likes that I’m a two-way guy.”

Sanon Talks Arizona and LSU

Arizona: “They play a lot like my high school, and I like that. They move the ball and set a lot of off-the-ball screens. They like to move the ball, it doesn’t stick. It’s a lot of the same thing. Coach (Tommy) Lloyd tells me he likes my jump shot. They need someone like me who can get to their spots and knock down jumpers. They say that they want me to play a role like Bennedict Mathurin and how he played with them.”

LSU: “They play fast over there. When I was younger, I was a fan of LSU and everything. I grew up liking them, so, I want to see what the atmosphere is like there. I heard it was great, and I want to see for myself what that looks like.”

Indiana and Georgia

Indiana: “I like who they play. They like to get a lot of threes up. Everyone says I got a good jump shot, so that fits in with how I play.”

Georgia: “They’re telling me I’m a little bit like Anthony Edwards. And they want me to come down there and have that kind of impact for them.”

In His Words

“I’m not sure what I will do, stay in the 2025 class or come out in 2024,” Sanon said. “It will really all depend on if I feel like I’m ready.

“When I go on these visits, I’m going to be looking at the atmosphere of the school,” Sanon said. “I’ll look at my teammates and the recruits the school is bringing in with me. I want to play with people I like. The coaching staff will be big too. Trust is big.

“I want to play for a coach that plays fast and with players who are versatile, can spread the floor and do anything really.”
