Bowling Green QB JT Kitna enters NCAA transfer portal

Bowling Green quarterback JT Kitna has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He enrolled at BGSU in January and is the brother of former Florida and current UAB quarterback Jalen Kitna.
Kitna went through spring practice at Bowling Green after committing to the Falcons in January. Since then, the program under went a coaching change after Scot Loeffler left for a job with the Philadelphia Eagles and former Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George took over as head coach.
Kitna played high school football at Liberty Township (OH) Lakota East, where he was a three-star recruit. He was the No. 1,407 overall player from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Prior to his arrival at Bowling Green, JT Kitna was a two-year starter in high school under his father, Jon. He set Lakota East’s program records for passing touchdowns and passing yards in a game, season and career during that time.

Kitna’s brother, Jalen, is currently getting ready for his second season at UAB after joining the Blazers a year ago. He sat out the 2023 season following his arrest on five felony counts of child pornography possession, and later saw those charges get dropped. He then pled no-contest to two second-degree counts of breach of the peace and was not fined, nor did he have to register as a sex offender.
“I had hoped this outcome would exonerate me and provide understanding,” Jalen Kitna said in a statement. “The reaction has been quite the opposite and created even more confusion with people making judgments based only on the initial reports, which didn’t tell the whole story.
“The misdemeanor plea of ‘no contest’ is not an admission of guilt and I was not adjudicated by the court, meaning there was no conviction. The police have returned all my devices, because they contain no illegal material.”
After committing to Trent Dilfer and UAB out of the portal a year ago, Kitna appeared in eight games for the Blazers. He threw for 2,209 yards and 17 touchdowns during that time as they struggled to a 3-9 record in Dilfer’s second season.
