Juice Wells was one of the biggest splashes Ole Miss made in the transfer portal. The former South Carolina wide receiver is sure to add another level to the Rebels’ offense and is set to return to Columbia in October.

One of Wells’ former teammates had a strong message on social media Wednesday, though. Nick Emmanwori called him “Judas” after Wells posted a picture in his Ole Miss uniform, referencing the disciple who betrayed Jesus in the Bible.

Wells spent two years with South Carolina, but saw injuries get in the way of his 2023 campaign. As a freshman in 2022, though, he totaled 938 yards and six touchdowns as a key part of the Gamecocks’ passing attack.

Ole Miss is set to head to Williams-Brice Stadium Oct. 5 for a key SEC matchup. It will also mark the first time Wells plays against his former teammates, and Emmanwori’s post could be an indicator of South Carolina’s mentality that day.

What Juice Wells brings to Ole Miss

After entering the transfer portal, Wells came in as the No. 24 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. He is also one of three Ole Miss players ranked in the Top 25 after this past transfer cycle, including Walter Nolen – the No. 2 overall player and top defensive lineman.

Wells brings some big-time experience to the Ole Miss wide receiver unit, which also includes Tre Harris after a breakout year in 2023. Speaking at SEC Media Days earlier this month, Harris pointed out the value of having a player of Wells’ caliber to play alongside, and it’s adding to the excitement for the season.

“It’s incredible having that many guys in your room,” Harris said. “You know, it’s good to have that much depth as well. You’ve got guys like Juice Wells, Jordan Watkins, Cayden Lee, Ayden Williams and Noreel White, as well. I can keep naming guys, as well.

“And it’s good to have guys that can come in and support you and come in and get reps, meaningful reps. It’s really huge going into this season for sure.

Of course, having both Harris and Wells in the wide receiver room is important for Jaxson Dart. In fact, he went so far as calling Harris the best in the country – some high praise.

“Just the plays that he makes. Then his mindset each and every day of being able to attack it. There’s nobody else like him,” said Dart. “He makes my job a lot easier just being able to get the ball in his hands and him being able to go make plays.”
