Justyn Fernandez on why he chose George Mason
“The coaching staff stood out to me the most… how genuine they were and how confident they were in what George Mason has to offer me,” Fernandez said. “Even with all the high major schools coming in, they made it their mission to really show that I’m a big priority for them.”
Furthermore, Fernandez spoke about the importance of being a “need” and not just a “want.”
“One thing that my parents and my trainers preached to me was to go somewhere where they still love you even on your worst day,” Fernandez said. “Go to a place where they love you and not just like you. Go to a place that you’re a need, not just a want. With all that being said, I’m going to a place that a top-75 kid would probably never go to. But, I do know if I go there and do what I need to do, it can be done. I’m just taking a different route. With Coach Kim (English), Coach (Duane) Simpkins, Coach (Dennis) Felton, I’m definitely taking that chance and I know it’s going to work out well.”
