Alabama Coach Kalen DeBoer Press Conference | Wisconsin Week

To open his press conference on Monday, Kalen DeBoer provided injury updates for three players on offense – two on the offensive line and one wide receiver who was also working on special teams.

DeBoer wanted to open it up that way with the media to cover the latest for Alabama.

“Probably one of the things that I know I’ll get asked is about injuries. So just hit on a couple guys probably that will come up,” DeBoer began.

Firstly, DeBoer shared that Cole Adams suffered an upper-body injury during the 42-16 win over USF on Saturday. That will leave his status in doubt, whether overall or in his effectiveness, for this weekend at Wisconsin.

“Cole Adams got hurt – upper extremity injury,” said DeBoer. “You know, kind of see how he goes through the week here. Wouldn’t rule him out but, you know, probably would be very limited early. We’ll see how it goes throughout the week there.”

Adams, a redshirt freshman, recorded a catch against the Bulls for five yards. He had also returned seven punts with him only getting yardage in the opener against Western Kentucky for a total of 42 yards.

Secondly, DeBoer noted the appearance by Elijah Pritchett, the redshirt sophomore on the offensive line. He was glad to see their right tackle get some snaps in the fourth quarter, especially since he had limited reps throughout the week and with him leaving them healthy in the end.

“Pritchett played, you know, in the game as you saw for the last, I think, six plays or so. Came out good with that,” said DeBoer. “Practiced towards the end of the week on Wednesday, Thursday. A little more limited on Wednesday and, as the week went on, practiced. Felt okay about him being out there, felt good about him being out there. He came in and did a nice job. The big thing is that he got through healthy. That was a key there.”

Finally, DeBoer updated the status of Kadyn Proctor, their left tackle and the returned redshirt sophomore, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury that has held him out of the first two games for the Crimson Tide. After rehabbing that matter, he looks to be close to a return in some capacity in the coming days.

“Kadyn Proctor? You know, he’ll continue to work on his functional movement and all that kind of stuff early in the week and keep progression in a way where I feel, you know, where we’ll be pretty dang close by the weekend of getting him on the football field,” said DeBoer. “Feel like he’s coming along real well, especially at the end of last week. Working extremely hard to get back out there.”

All three players have varying levels with their statuses with Pritchett and Proctor sounding more likely than Adams to some extent to play against the Badgers. We’ll know more as the week goes on, though, with the release of the injury reports out of Tuscaloosa.
