Alabama Keys to a Win Over Wisconsin

With the status of Kadyn Proctor still undecided for Alabama, Pete Thamel provided a small update on him heading into the weekend.

Thamel addressed Proctor’s potential availability against Wisconsin during Friday’s episode of the ‘College GameDay Podcast’. When Stanford Steve asked him about the offensive lineman in regards to his pick between the Crimson Tide and Badgers, Thamel suggested that he not make his choice based on the thought that he’ll be playing in Camp Randall.

“I will be checking in on that later in the week,” said Thamel.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t count on him in your pick. Let’s put it that way,” Thamel reported. “Now they’ve said day-to-day but I wouldn’t count on him.”

This injury to Proctor’s shoulder has held him out of the first two games for ‘Bama. Still, it’s not a long-term concern with suggestions that he could have played last weekend after returning to practice this week for the Tide.

As Thamel put it, it’s just a matter of Alabama’s staff picking the right moment. That could end up being on Saturday in Madison or could be after this first bye week when they’ll open conference play on the other side of it.

“When do you push the button, right?,” said Thamel. “Like, what’s, you know, when do you feel like you’re going to really need him? Is it all the way to Georgia?”

“It’ll be interesting, interesting decisions there for Alabama with Proctor,” Thamel said.

Proctor made 14 starts last season at left tackle for Alabama. He did so as a true freshman, after just being a Five-Star+ prospect, that earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors. After spending his spring elsewhere, he has since returned to Tuscaloosa with him now yet to make an appearance this season after the injury from fall camp.

Proctor’s status isn’t too complicated for the Crimson Tide. The question is when he does return rather than if he does return this fall for their offensive line.

“He’ll be back this year,” Thamel said. “It’s just a matter of when.”

Kadyn Proctor, Elijah Pritchett injury updates

Alabama‘s offensive line has been handling some injuries along their front to start this season

Kalen DeBoer provided updates on a pair of them during an SEC Teleconference Call on Wednesday. That began with Kadyn Proctor at left tackle.

“Yeah, he’s been practicing and he’s doing well,” DeBoer said. “He’s doing a good job. Really was heading in a really good direction right at the very end of last week and turned the corner, I think, there and is in a good spot here. Done a nice job here in the first two days of practice.”

Elijah Pritchett, who missed the first few quarters against USF with an injury he sustained in the season opener against Western Kentucky, was then next. He seemed to fare well in the final quarter against the Bulls, which gives DeBoer hope that he’ll be all the way back this weekend.

“We’re still working through the plan but he finished the game out on Saturday and really had no more setbacks, which was great,” DeBoer said. “Something that we were just concerned about and didn’t want that to hold him back. He’d worked very hard from the week before, an injury that people weren’t aware of just because of the way the score was. He’s in a good spot right now as well.”
