Report: Kadyn Proctor 'week-to-week' with shoulder injury, 'no long-term concern'
Many Alabama fans were surprised when offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor didn’t play during Saturday’s win over Western Kentucky, and now some clarity is being provided on his status moving forward.
Evidently, Proctor was forced to miss Week 1’s clash with the Hilltoppers due to a shoulder injury sustained in pregame warmups, but Matt Zenitz of 247Sports and CBS Sports is reporting that it appears to just be a week-to-week type deal, and there’s no long-term concern at the moment.
“Alabama star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor didn’t play in Bama’s win Saturday after injuring his shoulder in pregame warmups but it doesn’t seem to be a long-term injury and appears to just be a week-to-week type deal, sources tell @ByScarborough and me for @247Sports/@CBSSports,” Zenitz posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Obviously, the injury wasn’t something anyone on the Crimson Tide side expected heading into Week 1, but at least there seems to be no long-term effects for Proctor. The offensive lineman was seen in a sling on his left side due the the injury during warmups throughout the game.

Following the win, even Kalen DeBoer admitted the injury surprised him before giving a brief update on Saturday. He did not give a specific diagnosis but says Alabama will be monitoring Proctor throughout the week.

“We’ll continue to evaluate tomorrow just to see the severity of it. We’ll know more here as the week goes on,” DeBoer said after Week 1, via Charlie Potter of On3’s BOL.
Proctor had a whirlwind of an offseason, transferring to Iowa from Alabama following Nick Saban’s retirement, before returning after spring practice. Despite starting at left tackle all season for the Crimson Tide, Proctor spent fall camp competing for the job alongside Elijah Pritchett.
Now, there is an injury for him to deal with. Alabama will be back on the field next Saturday, facing off against USF. The DeBoer era got off to a great start with a resounding victory against Western Kentucky. Alabama is hoping to earn win No. 2 against the Bulls and doing so with Proctor out there.
