Kai Rogers, a four-star center in the 2025 class, is down to three schools: Iowa State, Oklahoma, and SMU.

The 6-10 senior attends Overtime Elite in Atlanta but is originally from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area.

Rogers took an official visit to Oklahoma in June and has unofficially visited Iowa State.

Rogers is the No. 64 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 6 center prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Rogers talks Oklahoma, SMU, and Iowa State

In a previous interview with On3, Kai Rogers discussed his thoughts on his three contenders.

OKLAHOMA: “It was obvious on my visit how bad they wanted me. Their vibe as a school and a location surprised me. Oklahoma, going into it, I would have thought it was in the middle of nowhere, but they have a great vibe. All the guys were great, everything out there was just great.

“They love my defense and they see me being a presence around the rim for them. A person that the guards can get the ball to and score easy points around the basket. I talk with Coach (Porter) Moser about every week. Things are good with him, we can talk about things that aren’t even related to basketball. It’s a natural connection and things are not forced at all with him.”

SMU: “Their play style attracts me. That and the guys they have brought in since Coach (Andy) Enfield has taken over. He has brought in some high-level guys. Now SMU is in a different conference, the ACC and Coach Enfield has let it be known that he wants me. Knowing that I am wanted and that they have a clear plan for me is big.

“The players that Coach Enfield has produced at my position are all great players. They are all in the position I want to be in so that is something that I am looking at. He has produced players in my position. I talk a good bit with Coach Enfield, with him though it is all basketball.”

IOWA STATE: “That was a great visit too. I got to see the whole campus, watch a practice, talk with some of the guys. I watched a basketball game earlier in the year too and I got to see them play Kansas. That was a good game. It’s a very fast program, playing wise. They relate to the NBA. They have guards and bigs handle the ball.”

What he’s looking for in a school

“I’d like to go to a school that plays through their bigs and has a style that will correlate with the NBA with a fast pace and their defensive style.

“Player development will be big for me. The school I go to will have to have good player development and produce good players at my position. The connection I have with the coach will be big too. I want to make sure I am comfortable with who the coach is and what plan is he has for me.”

Scouting Report

“Kai Rogers is a strong and physically impressive post presence. He has good hands and an understanding of how he can best affect the game, and play within himself. While not super bursty, he has good timing around the basket as a rim protector. He is patient on the block and can score with a go-to move over his left shoulder. Rogers has touch on his shot and is developing a catch and shoot jumper. The release is good and the balance and footwork is improving. He is a good area rebounder. He plays tough on traffic. Has recently lost a good bit of weight which has helped him improve his athleticism and conditioning.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
