The stands in Bowdon (Ga.) High’s gymnasium featured both multiple head coaches and a top assistant on Wednesday night.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and tight ends coach Todd Hartley, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell and Florida tight ends coach Russ Callaway were all in attendance to see four-star tight end Kaiden Prothro on the basketball court. The 6-foot-6.5, 210-pounder continues to garner heavy interest from some of the nation’s top programs.

Around 30 Power Four programs have offered Prothro thus far. Ahead of participating in the Under Armour All-America game earlier this month, Prothro updated his recruitment with On3. Both Georgia and Florida were mentioned as some of the main schools in his process as of now.

“Producing guys to the league, that’s always a good thing to look at,” Prothro said of the Bulldogs, the in-state team that’s set the pace thus far.

“Florida, you know they had Kyle Pitts and they’ve also got some good tight ends. It’s just really hard for me to look at all these great programs,” he said. “I think at the end of the day it comes down to how the coaches coach and how the program runs.”

Alabama, Miami and Texas were among the schools also mentioned for the soon-to-be senior. Prothro is the No. 41 overall prospect, No. 2 TE and No. 3 player in Georgia in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Prothro coming off impressive showing at All-America Game

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power left the Under Armour All-America Game with high praise for Prothro:

“Had the Top Performers been strictly off of practice, Kaiden Prothro would be an easy inclusion in the top ten. Prothro was a matchup nightmare in practice. At 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, Prothro has uncanny burst and movement skills at his size. A top 100 prospect in the 2026 cycle, Prothro was the On3 MVP on Day 2 of practice. He showed the ability to create separation off the line of scrimmage along with the top-end gear to stretch the field.

…Prothro won a best-on-best rep during 1-on-1’s against Na’eem Offord, the highest-ranked corner in attendance. Prothro shook the Oregon signee off the line and pulled away for a long touchdown. The 2026 prospect also flashed very nice tracking skills and reliable hands throughout the week. While quiet during the game, Prothro showed high-end ability in both practices.”
