Elite 2025 DL Kamauryn Morgan to take three in-state visits
Red Oak (Texas) four-star defensive lineman Kamauryn Morgan is one of the best junior prospects in the Lone Star State. The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder is racking up the offers to prove it, too.
The likes of Georgia, Oregon, Auburn, Penn State and Miami have offered, but Morgan’s recruitment has had a local feel to it thus far. That won’t change at the start of 2024.
On3’s Gerry Hamilton reported on Tuesday that Morgan has set a trio of in-state visits this month to Texas A&M (Jan. 13), Texas (Jan. 20) and Baylor (Jan. 28.).
Thus far, Morgan has visited Texas once — back in June — and has also seen SMU twice. Rhett Lashlee, Calvin Thibodeaux and the Mustangs are now at the Power Five level and are already recruiting like it in the 2025 cycle.
SMU’s class features five commits as of Jan. 9 and ranks No. 15 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Four four-stars are committed, including Duncanville (Texas) quarterback Keelon Russell, the No. 21 signal-caller in the cycle. All five pledges are in-state.
“I really enjoyed the visit. Bonded with the coaches and staff, played games, and talked football,” Morgan told On The Pony Express after his July visit to SMU. “They actually interacted with the players not only from a coaching stand point, but just as a person in general. I loved how confident they were in everything they said and did.”

Texas with chance to make another impression on Morgan
The Longhorns offered Morgan in April and got him on campus for the first time less than two months later. Spending time with defensive coordinator Pete Kwaitkowski and seeing how things operated on The Forty Acres was eye-opening for the blue-chipper.
“Coach PK was really hands on with the defensive ends,” Morgan told Inside Texas. “He really put a lot of information in my head, how to do stuff, how to work around stuff. It really helped me out a lot. He made sure all the techniques were right. He’s a very good coach. I don’t have a preference where I play. Just line me up and let me go.”
Morgan is the No. 75 overall prospect and No. 6 DL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 15 player in Texas.
He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $63K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
