Seth Greenberg reveals biggest threat to Kansas in Big 12
Kansas is the top team in the Big 12 at the moment and ranked No. 3 in the country. But ESPN’s Seth Greenberg revealed the team in the conference that could knock off the defending national champions.
As far as the biggest threat to the Jayhawks, it’s more than just one team in a loaded Big 12. Greenberg said Baylor and Texas could make some serious noise.
However, the long time analyst said the Bears were more likely to give Kansas trouble the rest of the way.
“I think the team they just beat and that’s Baylor,” Greenberg said Tuesday on SportsCenter. “They’ve got three guards that are as good as any players in the country. That’s the best backcourt in the country. The average 47 points a game, between those guards. Keyonte George will be a lottery pick, maybe the second college player drafted. You’re talking about Adam Flagler, big, high three point shooter and then LJ Cryer. And then you also got this Texas team that’s right behind right now, Kansas.
“They have a tremendous staff and great experience. One of the oldest teams in college basketball. Terrific backcourt, and they got a guy that comes off the bench, Sir’Jabari Rice. Great shot maker. We forget over the last seven games, 17 points a game 50% from three. Marcus Carr, the transfer from Minnesota … he is a terrific closer … If they get play out of their frontcourt, Texas is another team in the Big 12, they can make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.”

Greenberg mentioned how Baylor was the biggest challenger. After Kansas’ victory over the Bears over the weekend, head coach Bill Self talked about creating mismatches.
“Yeah, we tried to take advantage of throwing it inside, even though we don’t throw it inside a ton, but throw it inside because the switches allowed us to put a little guard on a big guy a lot of times and just like the little out of bounds under play,” Self explained. “It’s not anything great but it’s just an easy basket you don’t have to earn.”
Kansas trailed Baylor at the half, losing by 13 points. However, the Jayhawks dominated the second half, outscoring the Bears 55-26 to win the game.
“They picked on us the first half and we were able to get some of those advantages in the second half.”
