According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Kansas guard Zeke Mayo has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Mayo spent just one season in Lawrence after previously being at South Dakota State for three. He is thought to be out of eligibility but is keeping options open.

Mayo played in 34 games this past season for the Jayhawks and started in all but two of them. He averaged a few ticks below 15 points per game, adding 4.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Head coach Bill Self made a big move by acquiring Mayo out of the portal last offseason. Kansas was viewed as one of the preseason favorites due to its roster work. While things did not work out for the team, losing early in the NCAA Tournament, Mayo did have himself a nice campaign.

The last four games of the year is when Mayo was playing his best basketball, at least from a scoring perspective. He averaged 20.5 points over the final four contests. Three of them were considered postseason games between the Big 12 and NCAA Tournament.

Kansas, and plenty of other programs, were interested in Mayo after his 2023-2024 Summit Player of the Year season. Almost every team in college basketball would be interested in someone who averaged 18.8 points while shooting 39.1% from three on nearly seven attempts per game.

If Mayo can find eligibility for the 2025-2026 season, he will be a valued player. You have to imagine Kansas will be more than interested in bringing him back as well.

Kansas guard Shakeel Moore quickly withdraws from NCAA transfer portal

Kansas guard Shakeel Moore has withdrawn from the transfer portal on the same day he entered, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. Moore had entered the portal less than an hour earlier after one season in Lawrence.

Moore transferred to Kansas ahead of the 2024-25 season from Mississippi State. He went on to average 3.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He was plagued by injuries, playing in only 20 games and starting nine of them.
