Kansas State guard CJ Jones enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Kansas State junior guard CJ Jones has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal after one season with the Wildcats, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw.
Jones transferred into Manhattan last offseason from Illinois-Chicago, but struggled to replicate the success that he’d had in the Missouri Valley at the high-major level. The 6-foot-5 combo guard averaged 5.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest for the Wildcats, starting nine of their 33 games while playing just under 19 minutes per contest.
As a sophomore at UIC, Jones was one of the conference’s leading assist men, finishing fourth with 159 on the season. He also averaged 11.4 and 3.5 rebounds per game, shooting nearly 38% from behind the arc. At K-State though, his shooting percentages dropped significantly amid a 16-17 season campaign for Jerome Tang and Co.
Now he will be looking for his fourth college destination with one year of eligibility remaining. Jones actually signed with Missouri out of high school, but was released from National Letter of Intent after the Tigers fired coach Cuonzo Martin.
He ultimately signed with the Flames and played two years under former head coach Luke Yaklich, who was fired after the 2023-24 campaign.
