Kansas State overcomes Iowa State student section troll in dominant upset over No. 3
Hilton Coliseum has been one of the tougher venues in college basketball in recent years. Iowa State has thrived in front of the home crowd but had no such luck on Saturday against Kansas State. Jerome Tang brought his squad into Ames and pulled off a surprising upset.
This game has been brewing for some time now. During last year’s matchup, there were some allegations of Iowa State spying on the Kansas State huddle. Nearly a year later it’s still on the minds of Cyclone fans.
During one of the first timeouts, every single Iowa State student pulled out their phone and directed it toward Kansas State’s bench. Maybe attempting to get a video and figure out what is going on before the two teams take the court once again.
A nice troll attempt, even if the result was not one in their favor. You can check it out below.
In the game Iowa State fans are referencing, their team wound up winners against Kansas State, 78-67. Tang went into his postgame press conference quite upset but did not comment further than saying things would get worked out behind the scenes.

“I know you saw what you saw, but I’m not going to talk about it,” Tang said after last year’s Jan. 24 matchup against Iowa State. “I’m more than happy to talk about the game. TJ (Otzelberger) and I will go figure the other part of it out.”
Otzelberger responded to the reports, saying the accusation was disrespectful to the people inside the program.
“Ludicrous rumors earlier this week that somehow, we were trying to gain an advantage looking into our opponent’s huddles,” Otzelberger said. “It’s an affront to our players, our fans, and to me. It’s not who I am, it’s not what our program is about, and I am angry that somebody would even make that suggestion.
“What is factual is — one of their staff members cursed out one of our student managers who was mopping the floor under the basket. So let’s put this to bed here and now. It didn’t happen. It won’t happen. And others need to be much more careful with their words moving forward.”
