Kansas State vs. Texas odds: Early point spread released on Wildcats, Longhorns
In a game that could yet have Big 12 title implications, Kansas State will meet Texas in Austin. And the early point spread has been released for the game.
Texas will open as a 7-point favorite over Kansas State, according to lines released by FanDuel. The over/under is set at 52.5 points.
The Longhorns are coming off a win over BYU with a new starting quarterback. Following an AC joint sprain to starter Quinn Ewers, backup Maalik Murphy took over and led the team against the Cougars.
He fared well enough, going 16-for-25 for 175 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Both of Murphy’s scoring strikes went to Adonai Mitchell, who finished with three receptions for 59 yards and those two receiving touchdowns.
Given that the first outing went well Murphy figures to be the guy again for the Longhorns facing the Wildcats. Like last week, you can expect Texas to do what it can to support him by making plays around him.

Kansas State will come in hot, too.
The Wildcats have won three straight games, including blowouts against TCU and Houston. In the last three games Kansas State has averaged 39.0 points per game, so the offense is firing on all cylinders regardless of who is playing at quarterback.
The team has played multiple quarterbacks of late, too.
Starter Will Howard has ceded some snaps to backup Avery Johnson, and both have performed at a high level. Against Houston, for example, Howard went 15-of-17 passing for 164 yards and two touchdowns while Johnson went 5-of-6 for 46 yards and a touchdown.
That dual-quarterback system may make life difficult on the Longhorns, though the early point spread still favors them.
Not much in the series has come tough for Texas of late, though. The Longhorns have won the last six meetings in the series, with their last loss coming back in 2016.
Texas owns the overall series lead 13-10.
