Kansas State will make call on Adrian Martinez playing status after warm-ups
The Kansas State Wildcats are looking to continue their winning ways this evening when they host the Texas Longhorns, but once again, their quarterback situation is in question. Adrian Martinez, who has missed two straight games with a leg injury, is a game-time decision, as the Wildcat coaches have said this week. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the Wildcats will make the call on Martinez after warm-ups.
“We’ll find out how the week goes,” head coach Chris Klieman said this week. “I don’t have that answer now. I know that Adrian is closer. I think Adrian and Daniel Green are the two major ones that missed and I know that Daniel Green is closer and so nobody that played in the game on Saturday did we lose and we’re hopeful to have more guys back.”
Martinez started out the season as the Wildcats’ starter and carried them to success. Through six games, Martinez had thrown for 900 yards and four touchdowns, while adding nine rushing touchdowns. Martinez had Kansas State at 5-1 entering the bye week. But a lingering injury sidelined him for the TCU game.
If Martinez cannot play, it will once again be Will Howard for Kansas State. Klieman appears to be comfortable with Howard playing for the Wildcats.

“He played a really good game at TCU without taking the reps of the ones and then played really well on Saturday,” Klieman said. “So, it’s something that, we’re considering everything right now and we have to because we still have a good grind to this season left and obviously the health is going to be the number one part of that.”
Trusting in Howard would not be a bad move by the Wildcats. Howard threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns in a narrow loss to TCU. He then threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns against Oklahoma State in a 48-0 win.
