Miami Central (Fla.) On300 linebacker Karon Maycock has been committed to Florida State since February, but other schools haven’t relented in their pursuit of him.

That includes FSU’s in-state rival, Florida, as well as Alabama. The Gators hosted Maycock earlier this month, and now he is set to visit Tuscaloosa this weekend. Once he’s done with that visit, the ‘Noles will get the final shot at him before he announces a ‘final decision.’

That will come July 7, he tweeted on Thursday.

Who will land him remains to be seen, but the Gators in particular have been pushing hard for this flip. And their message has no doubt resonated.

“It’s not only about football; they talk about other stuff off the field,” Maycock told GatorsOnline last month. “They make sure I’m good on and off the field. Also, they talk to me about the scheme and go over plays. They check up on me to make sure I’m good and making sure my family is OK. It’s just been great.”

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is the No. 442 overall prospect and No. 35 LB in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3, however, is much higher on him than other services. In the most recent On300 rankings, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 290 recruit, No. 22 linebacker and No. 39 player in the state of Florida.

As a junior last year at south Florida powerhouse Miami Central, he totaled 62 tackles (17 TFLs), to go along with three sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries. And did so in just eight games.
