Ole Miss transfer running back Kedrick Reescano announced his commitment to Arizona Wednesday night. He entered the transfer portal after one season with the Rebels.

Reescano played mostly on special teams at Ole Miss as a true freshman, but arrived in Oxford as a highly touted recruit. A four-star prospect, he was the No. 129 overall player and the No. 7-ranked running back from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators were higher on him, though, ranking him as the No. 97 player in the nation and No. 5 running back in the On300 Rankings.

After entering the portal, Reescano came in as the No. 239 overall player and the No. 23-rated running back in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. Now, he is heading to Arizona, which is preparing to make the move to the Big 12 after a groundbreaking round of conference realignment.

Kedrick Reescano is set to be the 16th addition for Arizona under new coach Brent Brennan, joining a transfer class that also includes former San Jose State pass rusher Tre Smith. The Wildcats begin their new era in the Big 12 on the heels of an impressive 2023 season under former coach Jedd Fisch, finishing with a 10-3 record after defeating Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl.

Spring transfer portal window officially closed

The transfer portal window officially closed on April 30 after two windows – a 30-day window in the fall, when Jayvontay Conner entered his name, and another 15-day window in April. The portal tool launched in 2018 to allow athletes to be more involved in the process of transferring. Athletes must notify institutions of their intent to transfer. Each school’s compliance team had 48 hours to put a name into the portal.

After an athlete is officially in the portal, there is no rush on making a decision as long as they are properly enrolled at a new institution in time for fall camp. Commitments did not have to be made during the 15-day window.
