Five-Star Plus+ QB Keelon Russell signs with Alabama Crimson Tide
Duncanville (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Keelon Russell made his commitment to Alabama officially on Wednesday, signing with the Crimson Tide during the first day of the recruiting Early Signing Period.
The 6-foot-3.5, 182-pounder is the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 3 QB and No. 1 recruit in Texas.
Originally committed to SMU, Russell flipped his pledge to the Crimson Tide amid a breakout summer on the camp circuit.
He ascended from a high four-star recruit to one of the nation’s top prospects, regardless of position. And he has only lived up to that billing during his senior campaign. His Duncanville squad is the favorite to win the Texas Class 6A-I crown, and Russell has been nothing short of spectacular.

“Russell is a well-rounded, instinctive quarterback prospect with surgical passing ability, good athleticism and a battle-tested resume . Measured at 6-foot-3 ⅛, 181 pounds with a 9 ⅝-inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Grew over half an inch as a junior. At the dials of one of the most talented offenses in high school football, leading Duncanville to back-to-back state titles in Texas highest classification as a sophomore and junior. Showed steady improvement over his final year of high school, winning the Elite 11 Finals MVP and taking his game to another level as a senior. Highly effective and efficient as a distributor. Plays with excellent timing and accuracy.”
