Kennesaw State guard Adrian Wooley plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Kennesaw State guard Adrian Wooley plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Wooley was one of the best mid-major freshmen in college basketball last season, being named first-team All-Conference USA.
“Kennesaw State guard Adrian Wooley is entering the transfer portal, source tells @On3sports,” Tipton said via X. “The 6-5 freshman from Tuscaloosa, AL averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game this season. Shot 42% from three. All-CUSA 1st Team and ROY.
Wooley played high school basketball at Cottondale (AL) Paul W Bryant, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 291 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Not too many schools were after Wooley during his high school recruitment. Mid-majors were where the offers came from before announcing his commitment to Kennesaw State. He played under head coach Antoine Pettway, a former assistant for Nate Oats with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
As Tipton mentioned, Wooley averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists this past season as a true freshman. He was named Conference USA Rookie of the Year for his season-long accolades. Honors came home with him after the Conference USA Tournament too, being a part of the event’s all-tournament team.

Kennesaw State finished the year 19-14 with a 10-8 conference record. Unfortunately, the suffered a two-point loss to Liberty in the Conference USA Tournament, falling short of making the NCAA Tournament. Wooley still finished with 28 points against the Flames, making 10 of 18 shot attempts — four of which were from three.
Just one high-major program fell on Kennesaw State’s 2024-25 schedule. A home showdown against Rutgers saw Wooley go up against some NBA talent. He had 10 points on five of nine shooting, adding seven assists and three steals. A nice early season performance for him.
Wooley now being in the transfer portal will certainly have big-time interest from top programs. A lowly-rated recruit not too long ago, the script has certainly flipped. A step up in the level of competition is coming Wooley’s way.
Being a native of the Tuscaloosa area brings an obvious connection to Alabama. But you have to imagine others are going to push for his signature this offseason. In most cases his size and scoring capability are hard to find out there on the open market.
