Kentucky's Jaxson Robinson on playing for Eric Musselman: 'I don't really have anything to say about Coach Muss'
While Jaxson Robinson rose to prominence at BYU, he also spent seasons at Texas A&M and Arkansas. At the 2025 SEC Media Days, a reporter asked the Kentucky transfer if he learned anything from head coach Eric Musselman during his time with the Razorbacks. Robinson kept it short.
“Nah,” Robinson said. “I don’t really have anything to say about Coach Muss.”
Arkansas was Robinson’s second collegiate stop after spending a season in College Station with the Aggies. In his lone campaign with the Razorbacks, Robinson played in 16 games and made four starts. He averaged just 3.4 points per game while shooting 38% from the field.
After only one year in Fayetteville, Robinson entered the transfer portal again, landing at BYU under head coach Mark Pope. Robinson thrived with the Cougars, averaging 14.2 points while shooting 35.4% from beyond the arc in the 2023-24 campaign.
For his efforts, he was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and was one of the most coveted targets in the transfer portal when he entered his name for the third time in his collegiate career. Although many teams reached out to Robinson, he only had two destinations in mind: the NBA or Kentucky.
After testing the NBA draft waters, Robinson ultimately decided to follow Mark Pope to Kentucky, where the fifth-year shooting guard will spend his final year of eligibility. Robinson is excited to prove to his past doubters that he belongs in the prestigious conference.

“Just showing my growth, obviously, just all areas of my game. I think that I’ve definitely improved,” Robinson said of his goals this season. “Going out there and being able to compete back in the SEC will be fun, obviously. A lot of people don’t think I can play in the SEC, so proving them wrong will be super fun for me.”
Kentucky will face off against both of Robinson’s former SEC teams in the upcoming season, taking on the Aggies on January 14, followed by John Calipari and the Razorbacks on February 1 — both inside Rupp Arena.
Earlier this month, Jaxson Robinson revealed to Kentucky Sports Radio that he has one of the two games circled on his calendar but refused to delve into further details.
“I’ve got one game definitely circled on my calendar, for sure,” Robinson said. “It’s the same for any team, the whole schedule, we’re looking to win basketball games. That’s all that matters.”
