Kentucky students go crazy on campus, burn furniture following Ole Miss upset
Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats pulled off arguably the biggest win in program history, taking down No. 6 Ole Miss on Saturday. Just a couple weeks removed from being so close against Georgia, UK finally got its upset bid. A huge victory for Stoops as the record improves to 3-2 for the 2024 season.
The game took place in Oxford but the folks back in Lexington were quite happy. Celebrations certainly ensued in the streets as people gathered around furniture. As any normal college student would, a fire was then started with the said furniture.
Cheering ensued as another piece was thrown into the middle. A wild scene from campus but all for a good cause. Nothing better than being on a college campus after your team wins a big-time football game.

As On3’s KSR points out, this is a regular occurrence for Kentucky after big wins. Usually, it’s surrounding the basketball program but students gather on State Street.
Mark Stoops explains what win means for Kentucky
Kentucky limited the nation’s top-ranked offense throughout the afternoon, holding Ole Miss to just 353 yards, about 320 yards shy of its season average going into the contest.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart was never allowed to get into a real rhythm in the game, as Kentucky recorded four sacks in the contest and hit him routinely.
The win comes on the heels of another impressive performance from the Wildcats, taking No. 1 Georgia to the brink.
“It means a lot, because we started tough and we have a brutal schedule,” Stoops said. “And our guys just keep on fighting, keep on coming back. We took the No. 1 down to the wire, and that’s no fluke. But yet we have so much work to do. We know that. We know who we are, but I love these kids. Their coaches have done a remarkable job.”
