Kentucky vs. South Carolina: Final injury report revealed
The final injury report between the Kentucky Wildcats and South Carolina Gamecocks has been released ahead of both teams’ SEC opener on Saturday.
Both teams are coming off season opening wins in Week 1, and are looking to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Both teams are dealing with some setbacks on the injury front, and Kentucky has especially been bitten by the injury bug despite their opener getting rained out before the final whistle.
Here’s the final report:
South Carolina:
OL Jakai Moore – Out
DB Emory Floyd – Out

DL Darrion Henry-Young – Out
OL Courtland Ford – Out
WR Hardley Gilmore IV – Out
DL Josaih Hayes – Out
DL Tavion Gadson – Out

For Kentucky, they’ll be down in the running back room without Trayanum. Running back Jamarion Wilcox was on the injury list all week listed as probable, but it’s unsure how large his role will be in Week 2.
During Week 1, they turned to senior Demie Sumo-Karngbaye for the bulk of their carries. He tallied eight carries for 59 yards and a touchdown before the Wildcats’ game was ended early due to weather. Their offense totaled 317 yards before lightning struck.

Defensively, the Wildcats won’t be at full strength along the defensive line, as three members of the UK lineup have already been ruled out with another listed as probable.
South Carolina, on the other hand, is only dealing with a few injuries compared to their SEC counterpart. Offensive lineman Jakai Moore and defensive back Emory Floyd have already been ruled out, but everyone else for head coach Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks squad is full-go and ready to play inside Kroger Field.
With Kentucky down in numbers, especially on the defensive line, it will be interesting to see how Saturday’s matchup plays out.
South Carolina has won the last two meetings between the two programs after Kentucky went on a streak of winning seven of eight matchups in the series between 2014 and 2021. South Carolina leads the all-time series between the two squads 20-14-1 dating back to 1937.
Kickoff between the Wildcats and Gamecocks is set for 3:30 p.m. ET in Lexington live on ABC.
