Kentucky vs. South Carolina odds: Early point spread released on Wildcats, Gamecocks
Two teams coming off very different results will meet when South Carolina hosts Kentucky in the penultimate game of the regular season, and the early point spread has been set for the game.
Kentucky will open as a 3.5-point favorite over South Carolina, according to early lines released by FanDuel.
The Wildcats will be looking to bounce back in a major way after being blown out by Alabama at home over the weekend. Kentucky surrendered an early 21-0 lead and was never able to work its way back into the contest.
Quarterback Devin Leary wasn’t at his best, throwing a costly interception in the contest when the game was still somewhat in the balance.
Nor did star running back Ray Davis get going, limited to just 26 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
With those two not quite firing on all cylinders it was tough for the Wildcats to really get going. But they’re more than capable, and as the early point spread indicates, the showdown with South Carolina will provide a good barometer for where the team is at coming down the stretch.

South Carolina, on the other hand, is coming off a big 47-6 win over Vanderbilt. That’s back-to-back wins for the Gamecocks, which had previously lost four straight through the month of October.
That momentum will be something the Gamecocks hope they can carry forward.
Quarterback Spencer Rattler is coming off a big day, a 351-yard, three-touchdown outing against the Commodores. He was excellent, as was receiver Xavier Legette, who went for 120 yards and nine catches. Running back Mario Anderson added 102 yards and a touchdown.
But as the early point spread indicates, this should be a close game.
It has been, for the most part, in the recent past. South Carolina won last year’s contest 24-14 and has won two of the last four meetings. But Kentucky has won seven of the last nine and will be looking to extend that run of dominance.
Kentucky and South Carolina are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday with a broadcast on the SEC Network.
