The first two matchups between these two SEC powerhouses could not have been more different. The first saw Tennessee suffer their worst loss of the season 107-79 to the Wildcats in Lexington. One month later, Kentucky went to Knoxville to get stomped by the Volunteers 76-63. Sitting a 1-1 on the conference series thanks to two blowouts, both fanbases will be looking for legitimate bragging rights when their teams face off Saturday.
Both squads have one loss since their last meeting on Feb. 15 — both against Arkansas, which means UK and UT are hotter than ever and barring Texas A&M throwing another wrench in the plans of the SEC’s top teams, one of them can earn their win back on the biggest stage in the SEC.
The winner will face the victor of the other semifinal matchup between Texas A&M and Arkansas in the conference championship game.
