No. 2 Kentucky and Indiana State were supposed to finish off the Lexington Regional tonight and potentially tomorrow. However, weather in the bluegrass has put the start time of their first matchup for Sunday up in the air.

The first pitch for the postseason game between the Wildcats and Sycamores was already to be determined due to a weather delay. Now, with lightning striking within distance of Kentucky Proud Park, the contest won’t start for at least another half hour as they evaluate the conditions.

Both Kentucky and Indiana State have navigated the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament in Lexington.

For the second-seeded Wildcats, they are undefeated through a pair of matchups on their home field. They opened with a 10-8 victory over Western Michigan on Friday before winning 6-1 over Illinois on Saturday. That has put them in a position to host a Lexington Super Regional if they were to win one more out of two potential matchups with the Sycamores.

As for Indiana State, they’ve faced elimination twice after losing their first outing with the Fighting Illini at 3-1 on Friday. They’ve since responded with a 6-4 win over the Broncos on Saturday and a 13-2 victory in a rematch with Illinois. They’ll need to win both over the Wildcats over tonight and tomorrow, though, to advance in the tournament.

A lot is on the line for Kentucky as well as Indiana State tonight and tomorrow. The only wonder is when Sunday’s game could begin or if one or both games will take place on Monday.

UPDATE: Kentucky vs. Indiana State set to start at 7:30 ET
