4-star WR Keylen Adams is down to four schools
Virginia Beach (Va.) Green Run four-star wide receiver Keylen Adams announced his top 12 schools on Dec. 17. Late in January, he said, Duke, Florida State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia are recruiting him the hardest.
The No. 120 overall prospect and No. 15 wide receiver in the 2024 On300 is now down to four schools. Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and West Virginia made the cut.
“I feel like those are the schools that are putting in more effort and showing more interest,” Adams told On3.
There is no commitment date yet, but he has a plan in place. He is open to using as many official visits as necessary before committing, which he hopes will happen before his senior season.
“It just really depends cause every time I talk to a school, I find out something new about it. I might have to take multiple official visits so I can really get a good decision on it, but at the same time, I might not.”
Adams discusses Virginia Tech and Penn State
Virginia Tech struggled in 2022, finishing 3-8 in head coach Brent Pry‘s first season. However, Adams trusts in the Hokies’ plan for the future.
Two of his main contacts with the program are Pry and wide receivers coach Fontel Mines.
“I see the vision that they got,” Adams said. “They got a lot of pieces that they’re getting there, trying to build something. I like what they’ve got going on.”

LSU set to bring back real tiger vs. Alabama
On Jan. 14, Adams was in State College for Penn State’s Junior Day. He called the trip “pretty good.”
Adams found out the next day that the Nittany Lions and wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield parted ways. Virginia wide receivers coach Marques Hagans was hired by head coach James Franklin to replace Stubblefield.
“It doesn’t really changed my interest in them,” Adams said of Stubblefield’s departure. “It just makes me slow it down a little bit more… It really just depends on who they put (at wide receivers coach) and if I like what he’s got going on and what he’s trying to do.”
Pittsburgh and West Virginia have been recruiting Adams for a long time. Each is recruiting him as a prospect that can play early and be an immediate impact player. That stands out to him.
“I want to get on the field. Playing early is something I will really look at when I make a decision.”
