The LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes are set to play in the Elite Eight for a highly anticipated Women’s NCAA Tournament game. Within that game, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey will need to find a way to slow down Iowa star Caitlin Clark.

This game is a rematch of last year’s national championship game, which LSU won. Still, as Mulkey explained, this Iowa team is different from last season’s, even with Clark still being a generational player that is impossible to completely stop.

“The biggest same is Caitlin Clark,” Kim Mulkey said. “That’s the same. The difference is the personnel. The difference is those that were role players are big players, which is what all coaches hope is that you respect the process and when your time arrives, you take advantage of it. They’re still gonna shoot a lot of threes. But Caitlin Clark is a generational player.”

Fubo’s spring offer just kicked off – For a limited time, new subscribers can save $20 on their first month of Fubo’s Pro, Elite, and Premier plans.

“She’s not all about threes. She can pass the ball,” Mulkey said. “She can take you off the dribble. Obviously, our focus will be on her, but not solely on her. Caitlin’s gonna do what she does. You’re not gonna stop her. You just hope that you can contain her a little bit and make sure that you do your job on the other four players.”

In the 2023 championship game, Caitlin Clark had 30 points, but it wasn’t enough to beat LSU. This season, the Hawkeyes and Clark are looking to get through the Tigers and make it back to the Final Four.

Clark is also dominating the competition in recent games, particularly in the Women’s NCAA Tournament. She has averaged 29.3 points in Iowa’s three tournament games. She’s also scored fewer than 24 points once during this entire season. So, finding a way to slow her down is going to be vital for LSU and Kim Mulkey.

Caitlin Clark shares what Iowa learned from 2023 title game run ahead of rematch with LSU

Ahead of Iowa’s game against LSU, Caitlin Clark shared what the Hawkeyes learned from last season’s deep run in the Women’s NCAA Tournament.

“But to be honest, the run we went on last year, it goes so fast and it kind of is a blur at this point,” Clark said.

“I almost remember everything in between the basketball games better than the actual basketball games and I think the biggest thing to take away from that is everything comes down to one possession. I think that’s what our group learned from that journey, is we played in a lot of really tight, close games. And being able to execute down the stretch is really important and I think that’s the biggest thing. I’m sorry my memory’s not very great, but that’s all I got.”
