Kirby Smart offers injury updates on Mykel Williams, Warren Brinson
Georgia coach Kirby Smart had more information on the injuries to defensive linemen Mykel Williams and Warren Brinson following the 34-3 victory against Clemson on Saturday.
Williams went down in the third quarter with after tweaking his ankle and was eventually taken back to the locker room. He did not return and finished the game with two tackle, both for loss.
Smart told reporters after the game that Williams’s X-Rays “look good,” but added that the team will have him evaluated further over the next couple of days.
“Mykel’s X-Rays, they look good, but I’ve seen that before,” he said. “So we’ve got to go check it when we get home and see.”

As for Brinson, he left the game in the first quarter and was later seen with a wrap around his left ankle. However, Smart described the injury as being a calf contusion rather than an ankle.
“Warren was more of a contusion of some kind,” he said. “I don’t wanna say high-ankle, but it was above the ankle. It was more calf in there where he got stepped on it felt like.”
Both Warren Brinson and Mykel Williams are expected to play critical roles as leaders for the Bulldogs defense this season. Williams is coming off of a season where he was a second team All-SEC selection after leading Georgia with 4.5 sacks.

Alabama LB announces plan to transfer
Kirby Smart declines to address status of Trevor Etienne
As Georgia put together a dominant performance against Clemson, there was one noticeable absence. Trevor Etienne – one of the biggest additions in the transfer portal – didn’t play due to a suspension stemming from a March DUI arrest.
Kirby Smart declined to address Etienne’s status ahead of the matchup, and after the game, it was more of the same. When asked if it was a suspension or if it was a one-game ban, Smart didn’t comment and shifted his focus to the players who took the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“We don’t talk about those things,” Smart said. “Good try, though. … Focused on how our guys played today, and that’s the focus and energy I put into it. Appreciate your question.”
Etienne was arrested in March on four charges – driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and affixing materials that reduce the visibility from windows and/or windshield. He posted a $1,883 bond and was released less than an hour after he was booked.
