ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit was on the call for Sunday night’s top 25 matchup between LSU and USC, but it was his dog, Ben, who stole the show. While Herbstreit and Rece Davis were on camera during the pregame show, Ben found his way into the shot as Herbstreit bent down to pet him.

The dog stood in between the two announcers with his tail wagging looking happy as can be. Herbstreit has been known to bring him on set, and it was certainly something that brought a smile to the viewers. You can view the moment below.

That was the first appearance for Ben on the broadcast, but thankfully it wouldn’t be the last. He showed up again once the game got going as he had fallen asleep during the second quarter.

He appeared to be encroaching on Davis’ space, causing Herbstreit to make a joke about it. As soon as he said the dog’s name, Ben woke up from his nap and looked up at them. He certainly looked comfortable up in the booth and soon laid back down.

Hopefully that won’t be the last we see of Ben this season as Herbstreit is sure to bring his furry friend across the country on more trips. He will be in Ann Arbor on Saturday to call the game between Michigan and Texas.

For now, he and Ben will finish up in Las Vegas in what is a game that is coming down to the wire. USC currently holds a 20-17 lead over LSU with 1:56 left to go.

Kirk Herbstreit explains confidence in Kalen DeBoer following Nick Saban at Alabama

Kirk Herbstreit is high on Kalen DeBoer and Alabama going into Saturday’s opener and confident in the team getting out of Nick Saban’s shadow.

Ironically, Saban is on the ESPN College GameDay set all year and he’ll certainly be talking about his former school where he won six national titles. DeBoer just led Washington to the national title game last year, but this is a whole ‘nother animal.

Still, Herbstreit explained his confidence in DeBoer taking on a new challenge.

“Well, I think, first of all, how cool is it, on our set, you know, all year, but especially today, to talk about that subject and Nick Saban, we’re going to turn to him and ask him his thoughts on that,” Herbstreit said on SportsCenter. “I mean that shadow is very, very large in Tuscaloosa. We all knew that, whoever stepped in to become the next head coach. That’s a very, very challenging thing.

“Now, all of us that follow Kalen DeBoer are very familiar with what he brings to the table, so we have confidence in what he can do, and he’s going to go about it very differently, but he’s an outstanding coach.”
