WATCH: Kirk Herbstreit drops first on-air expletive of ESPN College GameDay season
Kirk Herbstreit and College GameDay are off to a roaring start in Columbus for Week 1, and to say everyone is fired up may be an understatement.
However, that passion may have worked against Herbstreit for a moment. In hilarious fashion, the College GameDay analyst and Buckeyes alum dropped his first on-air expletive of the season.

“Oh s—,” Herbstreit exclaimed, responding to a challenge during the crew’s “Quarterback Carousel” segment.
The reaction of his colleagues says it all, as David Pollack immediately broke down with laughter. Additionally, Desmond Howard couldn’t get enough of the moment, cracking a huge smile as his colleagues guffawed.
Nevertheless, College GameDay was sorely missed due to moments like the one above, and there’ll be plenty more to make throughout the 2022 season. We’ll give Kirk Herbstreit a mulligan for his first swear word of the year, but ESPN executives may be a little more stern when it comes down to it.

To say College GameDay loves coming to Columbus for Ohio State games would be an understatement.

With the Big Ten creating a new landmark television deal that cuts ESPN out of the picture, there’s been talk about how often the crew would be back on campus in the future. Evidently, Rece Davis — the host of the famed show — isn’t planning on adjusting his future schedule due to some measly television contracts.
Check out an awesome video of Davis below, where he’s firing up a raucous Ohio State crowd and letting the world know his feelings on returning to Columbus in the future.
“If you think some television contract is gonna keep us from coming to the banks of the Olentangy, HELL NO!” exclaimed Davis, as the crowd behind him roared.
If that doesn’t get you pumped up for Week 1 and Notre Dame traveling to take on the Buckeyes, nothing will. Perhaps Rece Davis needs to find his way into some locker rooms this season to give some pregame speeches, because it’s evident the College GameDay host has a knack for it.
