The Ohio State-Oregon clash this year was one of the best games of the 2024 college football season. And on Friday night, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit is dishing out the hardware across the college football landscape in his annual Herbie Awards. He thought the Ohio State-Oregon game was the best game of the season, tabbing it as “Game of the Year” for the 2024.

Oregon defeated Ohio State 32-31 in one of the best games of the year. Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel had one of his best games on the biggest stage, completing 23 of 34 passes for 341 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns with no interceptions. Oregon running back Jordan James tacked on 23 carries for 115 rushing yards with one touchdown. On the ground, Gabriel also tacked on four carries for 32 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Ohio State will face off against the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the upcoming College Football Playoff. The Oregon Ducks currently hold the No. 1 overall seed the upcoming College Football Playoff.

That means they’ll have a first-round bye, before awaiting their opponent in the quarterfinals. The Ducks could get a rematch with the Buckeyes, as they’ll have to face the winner of the Ohio State-Tennessee game in the Rose Bowl on January 1st.
