After an exciting Week 2 of the college football slate, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit had no shortage of players to pick from for his top performers. And Herbstreit’s final group of seven players ran the gamut, from quarterbacks to an offensive lineman.

Topping the list are a pair of quarterbacks — Quinn Ewers and Kyle McCord — before a number of offensive positional players slot in. No defensive players made Herbstreit’s list, though a pair of kickers did crack it.

Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

Ewers looked sharp as Texas rolled to a Top 10 road win over Michigan. And it was enough to earn 1st billing on Herbstreit’s players of the week.

Against the Wolverines, Ewers went 24-of-36 for 246 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions. More performances like this out of Ewers and the Longhorns can expect to keep climbing.

McCord has shredded through two games at Syracuse in 2024. And on Saturday, he helped guide the Orange to a win over ranked Georgia Tech.

McCord went 32-of-46 for 381 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions in the win. He also helped finish off a game-sealing drive in the final minutes.

Cam Skattebo, RB, Arizona State

Arizona State rolled out to a 2-0 record with a win over Mississippi State in which Skattebo dominated. He carried 33 times for 262 yards.

He also caught three passes for 35 yards. Somehow, Skattebo didn’t find the end zone.

Kanon Woodill, K, Northern Illinois

At the business end of the upset of the weekend was Woodill, who knocked home a go-ahead, 35-yard field goal with :31 seconds remaining. That was enough for his Northern Illinois squad to toppled No. 5 Notre Dame, 16-14.

Woodill also hit a pair of earlier field goals in the game, all necessary for the win. And nine points later, he was a key piece to the Huskies pulling the historic upset.

Kyle Konrardy, K, Iowa State

The CyHawk rivalry game came down to the final kick, and it was Iowa State’s Kyle Konrardy delivering the win for the Cyclones. That kick, from 54 yards, helped deliver a big win.

But Konrardy also knocked home a kick from 46 yards earlier in the fourth quarter, a key score to set up his game winner. And with it, the Cyclones get bragging rights for a year.

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

Jeanty is a prohibitive Heisman leader after two weeks. And his stat line in Week 2 certainly helped his case, despite a loss.

Jeanty carried the ball 25 times for 192 yards and three touchdowns. He’s up to nine rushing touchdowns through two weeks.

Jake Majors, C, Texas

Majors helped anchor a Texas offensive line that stonewalled the Michigan defensive front. It was a big test, and Majors and the Longhorns answered with aplumb.

The Wolverines managed just four tackles for loss and no sacks. And the Longhorns rushed for 143 yards at a 4.5 yard per carry clip.
