Kirk Herbstreit’s top performing players from Week 10
Georgia defense
Saturday’s game between the Georgia and Tennessee had huge College Football Playoff implications, and the Bulldogs defense used it to send a statement. They limited the Volunteers, which entered as the nation’s top scoring offense, to just 13 points. Additionally, they held quarterback and Heisman candidate Hendon Hooker without a touchdown for the first time all season and forced a pair of Tennessee turnovers.
QB Jayden Daniels, LSU
Daniels led the Tigers to a 32-31 overtime victory against Alabama, moving the them into first place in the SEC West. He finished the contest 22-of-32 passing for 182 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 95 yards and a score. His biggest moment came during the extra period when he not only ran in for a 25-yard touchdown, but connected with Mason Taylor on the two-point conversion to seal the win.
RB Bijan Robinson, Texas
We’ve become accustomed to big performances from Robinson throughout his career with the Longhorns, but Saturday was something to behold. He rushed for a season-high 209 yards — which was also seven yards shy of tying his career-best — and a touchdown as Texas defeated Kansas State to move into a tie for second place in the Big 12.
QB Tanner Mordecai, SMU
Mordecai broke an AAC and SMU record on Saturday by throwing for nine touchdowns in a 77-63 shootout win against Houston. Not only that, but he tied an NCAA record after throwing seven of his scores in the first half. The 140 combined points between the two schools also set a record for the most points scored in regulation of an NCAA football game.

RB Devin Neal, Kansas
Neal totaled 334 yards and a touchdowns, setting career highs in both rushing (224) and receiving (110) yards as Kansas defeated Oklahoma State to snap a three-game losing streak. It marked the fourth time in the past five games that the Lawrence native has reached at least 75 yards rushing.
LB Drake Thomas, NC State
Thomas created havoc for Sam Hartman and the Wake Forest offense on Saturday, finishing with nine tackles, two sacks and four quarterback hurries. The pressure clearly got to Hartman, who tied his season high with three interceptions as the Wolfpack went on to a 30-21 victory.
RB Kaleb Johnson, Iowa
Offense hasn’t typically been Iowa’s strong suit this season, but Johnson took it upon himself to change that in Week 10. The true freshman rushed for a career high 200 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown run, as the Hawkeyes defeated Purdue 24-3.
RB Craig “Sqwirl” Williams, Baylor
Williams lived up to his nickname Saturday, terrorizing the Oklahoma defense for 192 yards rushing and two touchdowns in a 38-35 victory. It marked the first time in his career he has surpassed 100 yards or score more than one touchdown in any game.
