Kirk Herbstreit’s top performing players from Week 8:

QB Jayden Daniels, LSU Tigers

Daniels passed for two touchdowns against Ole Miss, and added three more scores for the Tigers with his legs. Additionally, the LSU quarterback completed 21-of-28 passes for 248 yards, amassing 121 rushing yards and becoming first quarterback in program history to rush for 100 yards and pass for 200 yards in same game twice in one season.

QB Bo Nix, Oregon Ducks

Nix has been playing wonderful football since a loss to Georgia that opened the season for the Ducks, and it was emphasized by the fact that Oregon handed UCLA their first loss of the season last Saturday. In the process, Nix passed for 283 yards and fie touchdowns, reestablishing Oregon as arguably the top contender in the Pac-12.

QB Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State Cowboys

Mike Gundy has been singing the praise of Sanders all season long, and his 391-yard, two touchdown performance against Texas will only further his campaign. While the Cowboys suffered a tough loss to TCU earlier this season, all their hopes are still ahead of them.

DB Brandon Johnson, Duke Blue Devils

A 29-yard interception return for a touchdown from Johnson ended all hope for Miami to make a comeback against the Blue Devils, but it was far from his only contribution, as he amassed nine total tackles, two sacks and the aforementioned interception in the victory.

RB Dae Dae Hunter, Liberty Flames

The Flames shocked BYU with a drubbing that will be remembered for quite some time, and Hunter was right in the middle of it, rushing for 213 yards and a touchdown in Liberty’s 41-14 win.

RB Richard Reese, Baylor Bears

Baylor made their mark on Kansas‘ dream-like season, handing them a loss behind Reese’s 186 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Bears have struggled a bit this season, but they’ll find plenty of victories with Reese leading the way.

LB Ivan Pace Jr., Cincinnati Bearcats

Pace Jr. helped Cincinnati secure their sixth straight win on the season over SMU with a fantastic defensive performance, amassing nine total tackles, two tackles for a loss, one pass deflection and one quarterback hurry.
