Kirk Herbstreit reveals top performing players from Week 10
Several players across the country are doing all they can for their teams as the season comes down the stretch of the season. However, only a few made the cut for Kirk Herbstreit on his list of top players from the past weekend in college football.
Herbstreit released his list of seven players, including one entire unit in one case, on Twitter on Monday. Washington got a lot of love with three selections as OLB Zion Tupuola-Fetui led the way on the entire list.
1. Washington OLB Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Saturday was an emotional outing for Tupuola-Fetui in Los Angeles.
On one hand, he posted four tackles, a team-high 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in a 10-point win for the Huskies at USC. However, on the other hand, he did so in the wake of losing his father the week before. That context only made the performance even more significant from Washington’s leader in sacks on the season.
2. Alabama QB Jalen Milroe
What hasn’t been said about the improvement of Jalen Milroe over the course of this season? The Crimson Tide’s QB1 showed that growth again as the SEC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week during ‘Bama’s 42-28 victory over LSU.
Milroe did enough with his arm as he went 15-23 (65.2%) for 219 yards. However, it was his legs that helped Alabama win the day and get him on Herbstreit’s list. He ended up running wild for season highs across the board of 20 carries for 155 yards and four scores.
3. Washington RB Dillon Johnson + the Husky O-line
To be fair, posting an incredible performance against USC’s defense only holds so much weight. With that said, Dillon Johnson and Washington’s offensive line dominated the Trojans in such a way that their opponent made a business decision following the contest.
In the 52-42 victory, Johnson had a career performance of 256 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries. That was made possible by his line as they made massive gaps for him to exploit all night. That helped him finish the night with an average of 9.8 yards per carry.
4. Clemson LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Clemson needed to find some life in order to knock off Notre Dame this weekend. While the Tigers got it in many forms in their 31-23 victory, Trotter Jr. put up big numbers for their defense in the win.
In total, Trotter Jr. finished with 11 tackles, which tied a season-high, and a season-best of two sacks. He also got the second interception of his year and the second pick-six of his career, a crucial play against Sam Hartman that gave Clemson their largest lead of the day before heading into halftime.

5. Ole Miss WR Tre Harris
Harris exploded on Texas A&M’s defense with every kind of catch, with ones that did and didn’t count, all over the field in Ole Miss’ 38-35 victory over the Aggies.
In the end, Harris posted career-highs of 11 catches for 213 yards to become an SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Add in a touchdown, his seventh score of the season, and he put a ton of pressure on the opposing defense in order to help the Rebel offense win the day.
6. NC State LB Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson has been upholding a standard in Raleigh for some time now. Even so, he managed to post one of his best performances as a member of the Wolfpack in their 20-6 win over Miami.
Wilson flew all around the field for 16 tackles and a pair of pass deflections in NC State’s victory over the Hurricanes. That was a new season high graduate student and defensive heartbeat of the Wolfpack.
7. Texas DE Ethan Burke
The final member of Herbstreit’s list was Texas’ Ethan Burke, the sophomore edge, with his outing in the Longhorn’s 33-30 overtime win over Kansas State.
By the end of the extra period, Burke had put up three tackles, a career-high of two sacks, and the first forced fumble of his career. With the team lead in sacks, the Austin native was able to do enough to help his team escape a close call against the Wildcats in an important Big 12 matchup.
