Kirk Herbstreit reveals top performing players from Week 13
The final week of the 2022 college football regular season is over, and several players came out big for their teams when their numbers were called. Monday night, ESPN College GameDay host Kirk Herbstreit revealed his picks for the top performing players from this past weekend.
- Donovan Edwards – Michigan Wolverines
- Jordan Travis – Florida State Seminoles
- Tyjae Spears – Tulane Green Wave
- Michael Wiley – Arizona Wildcats
- Devon Achane – Texas A&M Aggies
- Spencer Rattler/Antwane Wells Jr. – South Carolina Gamecocks
- Deuce Vaughn – Kansas State Wildcats
- Michael Penix Jr. – Washington Huskies
- Diego Pavia – New Mexico State Aggies
- Riley Leonard/Jalon Calhoun – Duke Blue Devils
Sophomore Donovan Edwards came up huge in the Wolverines’ colossal victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes over the weekend. Edwards rushed for 160 yards and two long touchdown – 75 and 85 yards, respectively – in the fourth quarter alone. By the end of the afternoon, Edwards had 22 carries for 216 yards, rightfully deserving of Herbstreit’s top spot.
Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis landed in second place thanks to his 353 all-purpose yards and three touchdown to boot against in-state rival Florida. He had a miraculous touchdown run, evading several tackles before braking free and following his blocks into the end zone – that play alone earned him the title of a top performing player this past weekend.

Herbstreit also named two sets of teammates as performing players. South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler and Antwane Wells Jr. hooked up nine times for 131 yards and two touchdowns in the Gamecocks’ upset of Clemson, while Duke’s Riley Leonard found Jalon Calhoun 11 times for 174 yards and one touchdown.
Most of these players won’t be in action during conference championship week. Only Edwards and Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn will be carrying their momentum into their respective title games in this week’s group.
