Kiyan Anthony, one of the top of shooting guards in the 2025 class, has narrowed his list of schools down to six, he told On3. Moving forward, the 6-foot-5 junior out of Long Island Lutheran (NY) will consider Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers, Syracuse, and USC.

He also received offers from the likes of Arizona State, Indiana, West Virginia, UCF, Maryland, Dayton, Pitt, Illinois, Seton Hall, Providence, and others.

To this point, Anthony has taken two official visits — Syracuse and Florida State. He recently told On3 he plans to re-visit Syracuse, as well as set up visits to his remaining finalists.

Kiyan is the son of of Carmelo Anthony, a former NCAA champion at Syracuse, 10-time NBA All-Star, and 2013 NBA scoring champion.

Anthony talks finalists

In previous interviews with On3, Kiyan Anthony broke down the schools involved.

Florida State: “I really liked their campus and how together they are there. I feel like everyone on campus knows each other. Definitely, the football program stood out to me. I didn’t know all of their equipment and everything was so advanced. They have great facilities, I liked the locker room. They have produced big guards, and they get big guards to the NBA. Guys like Scottie Barnes, Dwayne Bacon, and Terrence Mann. I feel like I can fit into some type of role there just like they all did.”

Syracuse: “Syracuse has a young core on the team now. And I learned a lot about the coaches and their vision. They’re very together, I mean they’re still trying to figure everything out. The team is switching to Coach (Adrian) Autry’s identity, switching from the zone to man to man. They’re still recruiting hard, trying to put together the 2024 and the 2025 classes. When I speak with the coaches, they let me know the vision. The type of players they’re recruiting and who all they think will be around. I liked all the stuff I heard from them.”

Ohio State: “I know it’s a new building program with coach (Jake) Diebler over there. They were the first coaches in the gym to come see me today so that shows that they’re really interested in me. I really like that so they’re really high on my list. I’m looking forward to taking a visit after Peach.”

Auburn: “They haven’t offered me yet. I’m still learning about them. Coach (Ira) Bowman reaches out to me every other day. He checks on me and a few of my close friends are over there, Tahaad (Pettiford) and Jahki (Howard) and they tell me about it. I’m looking forward to them throwing the offer so I can go take the visit.”

USC: “Coach (Eric) Musselman reached out to me a couple days ago when I was in Vegas. He definitely shows a lot of love. Also coach (Quincy) Pondexter, who played against my dad in the league. He shows a lot of love to me. I’m waiting for them to offer so I can get out to Cali and take that visit.”

Rutgers: “They’ve been on me. They’ve been showing the most love out of all the schools. Rutgers is close to my house so I want to take a drive one day and take some pictures and see their campus. But yeah, they’re on me heavily and I appreciate it.”

What he’s looking for in a school

“I’m looking for good coaching, and I want to play for a good team,” Anthony said in a previous interview. “I want to win. I feel like all the schools that I am talking to have a winning culture. I’ll want to go somewhere that is family-oriented too.

“Fast-paced, an offense that spreads the floor and keys in on versatility and guard play.”

Kiyan is currently ranked as the No. 31 overall player in the On3 2025 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 11 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in New York.
