4-star SG Kur Teng talks visits and recruiting

Kur Teng is the No. 32 player in the 2024 On3 150. The 6-foot-4 guard recently averaged 22 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 threes at the National Prep Showcase.
“I’m a three-level scorer,” Teng told On3. “I rebound well for my size, really; I just try to do everything I can to help my team win. My motor has improved a lot over the summer. I like Devin Booker a lot, how he comes off screens; he doesn’t need a lot of dribbles to get to his buckets.”
The four-star averaged 14.3 points while shooting 37.5 percent from three on 2.3 makes this summer, playing up on the Adidas 3SSB 17u Circuit. On3 caught up with Kur Teng at the National Prep Showcase to talk about his recruitment and visits.
“I’ve taken one official visit to Michigan State. “Teng said. “I’m talking with Rutgers and Providence, those are the main two right now, trying to set something up.”
Teng talks recruitment
Michigan State: “They’re one big family. They’re all together 24-7, eating together at the coach’s house, going out together. In the dorms, they’re all together; they’re, for real, just one big family. I love watching them play. They like to run stuff for their shooters, coming off pin-downs. I like to play off screens, let the shot go, curl into the mid-range, or finish at the rim, depending on the read. They play so hard, too; I like that.”

Rutgers: “I really like how they play hard. They’ve been consistent in recruiting me. They think I can come in and help them win in a lot of ways, scoring, rebounding, defense.”
Providence: “I haven’t been able to watch them play yet, so I’m ready to learn more about them. Relationship wise, they’re a top school for me. They like how I can score the ball. They talk about my shooting, but how I’m able to get to the rim too.”
In Teng’s words
“Relationships with the coaches are big for me,” Teng said. “Seeing how I relate with the staff when I go on these visits. I’ll look at how I fit into their system, how they want to play me. I want to play in a system that helps their shooters get open for their shots. Play in a program that plays hard and for a team with coaches who can push me.”
Scouting report
Kur Teng has a basketball frame, with broad shoulders and long arms. He has a smooth feel on the floor, with a great pace. A smooth catch and shoot player with consistent picture-esque form. While Teng is a slightly above-average athlete, he can attack closeouts and get to the basket or pull-up for a jump shot. Comes from basketball genes as he has multiple siblings currently playing college basketball. Coaches and those around him rave about the work ethic and approach.
