4-star WR Kwazi Gilmer announces top six schools

West Hills (Calif.) Sierra Canyon four-star wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer holds over 20 offers. Heading into late spring, he is ready to cut down his list.

Gilmer announced his top six schools on Sunday. They are UCLA, Stanford, Michigan State, Oklahoma, California and Washington.

“The reasons why these are my top schools are my connections with the coaches and the feeling they have given me while recruiting me,” Gilmer told On3. “I have visited each school on my list and I love the facilities at each school and the way I feel on campus. The same things stand out about each school.”

At the moment, Gilmer plans to take official visits to Oklahoma, UCLA, Michigan State and Washington before he announces his commitment. The dates of those trips are still to be determined.

According to Gilmer, most of his finalists reach out to him every day. Receiving a lot of attention from these programs has meant a lot to him.

“I am planning to take a few official visits, then make a decision,” said Gilmer, the No. 125 overall prospect and No. 20 wide receiver in the 2024 On300. “I will talk things over with my family, look really hard at each finalist and then figure things out.”

Gilmer is hoping to reveal his college destination by the end of the summer. The 6-foot-0, 180-pound wideout already knows what matters to him in a school.

“Education is important to me,” Gilmer said. “I am looking at the place I feel at home at and where I fit in best with the coaches.”

Gilmer’s recruitment has been accelerating

This month, Gilmer has visited Stanford (April 6 and 7) and California (April 8). Meanwhile, he saw Oklahoma on March 25 and Washington on Jan. 21.

The four-star also went to UCLA last fall for the Bruins’ game against Utah on Oct. 8. Meanwhile, Gilmer named a top performer at the Under Armour Next+ All-America Los Angeles camp during the first week of April.

“Kwazi Gilmer proved that he’s the definition of a true hands catcher,” On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant Cody Bellaire wrote. “His ball skills were second to none today as he showed on numerous occasions his ability to go up and pluck the ball with his hands. Not only is he a natural hands catcher, but he’s also a natural route runner.

“His ability to get in and out of his breaks was exceptional, as well as his ability to separate on underneath, intermediate and vertical routes. Gilmer had a drop or two I am sure he wishes he could get back today, but showed that he has all the tools to be a complete wideout at the next level.”
