Kyron Drones calls Florida State atmosphere ‘overhyped,’ not better than Louisville
Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones was not a fan of Florida State’s atmosphere, comparing it to Louisville in 2023.
Drones joined Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders on the latter’s new podcast and was pretty blunt about ACC atmospheres. Of course, he put Virginia Tech No. 1 on his list.
Tough to beat the “Enter Sandman” entrance.
“Best stadium other than ours? I’m putting ours in our league, that’s (No. 1),” Drones said on 2Legendary. “That I played at last year? Have to be Louisville. It’s just so loud. Stadium’s small, that’s why it was so loud.”
Drones was asked about Florida State’s atmosphere. Well, Drones had an answer for that too.
“I feel like that was overhyped. I feel like it goes crazy for a night game. That game was overhyped though. Not (as loud as Louisville) though.”
For what it’s worth, EA Sports College Football 25 ranked Florida State No. 9 on its top 25 toughest places to play and Virginia Tech was No. 17. Louisville was not ranked on the list.
So safe to say, there’s already some debate about this topic!

“He really just told me to go out there and be myself, I know what type of quarterback I am.” Drones said. “And then me just owning that and then just going out there and be myself, being able to work hard and going out there and try to lead the team to win every week.”
But Vick isn’t the only former Virginia Tech quarterback to achieve success in Blacksburg and at the NFL level.
“I’ve been talking to Mike Vick and then Tyrod Taylor a little bit here and there,” Drones revealed. “Me and Tyrod are supposed to get back on the phone and I just want to pick his brain with how he dealt with everything at Virginia Tech and how he deals with everything at the NFL. Just see what tools he can help me with coming into the season.”
Drones joined Virginia Tech in 2023 after two years at Baylor. In 13 games last season, he threw for 2,085 yards, 17 touchdowns, three interceptions and a 58.2% completion percentage. He added 818 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.
