La Familia, The Ville get into postgame altercation after TBT quarterfinal
Kentucky still owns the Bluegrass State after La Familia defeated The Ville 70-61 in the TBT quarterfinals Monday night.
After Andrew Harrison’s game-winning three-pointer ended the high-intensity matchup, tensions flared almost immediately on the court postgame. Aaron Harrison and Chinanu Onuaku appeared to make contact with one another, and Aaron continued to jaw at him after the fact.
Security and both coaching staffs got in the middle of them to break it up. Andrew Harrison was able to break free of the security to get closer to the Louisville locker room where he continued to jaw at the Cardinals alumni.
A full-on pushing and shoving matchup then happened but was broken up and both sides went to their respective locker rooms.
What was said is unknown, but the emotion of the rivalry was on full display in Freedom Hall all night from the fans in the arena and players on the court.
The anticipation for this matchup could be felt across the state. Some of the most decorated players in both programs’ recent history are on their respective rosters, which is why the Kentucky and Louisville fanbases were able to shatter the TBT attendance record on Monday night.
The previous record was 7,202 fans, but that was never going to last with a matchup that holds this kind of weight. That’s why 13,506 fans packed Freedom Hall to watch the game take place.

The Kentucky contingent started hot out of the gates to begin the game, but The Ville marched its way back in the second to send both teams to the locker room with a 30-27 score in favor of La Familia. Kentucky led by as many as 19 points during the second half, but by the time the Elam Ending was in effect — the Wildcats alumni couldn’t buy a basket.
The Ville slimmed down La Familia’s lead to just six points before Andrew Harrison called game with a wide-open 3-point basket.
Of course, it was always his brother, Aaron, who hit the three consecutive game-winners — one of which was ironically against Louisville — in the 2014 NCAA Tournament that sent an eight-seeded Kentucky squad to the national championship game alongside fellow La Familia teammate James Young and New York Knicks star Julius Randle. A decade later, his brother made the same shot in a similar situation.
La Familia now advances to the TBT semifinals, where they’ll take on Carmen’s Crew, who are Ohio State alumni. The former Wildcats will travel to Philadelphia to do battle with the former Buckeyes on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET live on FS1.
