Lance Leipold's wife, Kelly, claims viral post about Kansas fans was not made from her account
Kelly Leipold, the wife of Kansas coach Lance Leipold, says a screenshot that went viral of a post from her account was not her. The post in question appears to take a shot at Jayhawks fans for not showing up to support the football program.
A photo emerged on social media of a comment supposedly from Kelly’s X account underneath a quote tweet from Kirk Herbstreit praising the Nebraska crowd from Saturday’s game vs. Colorado. The post read “Crazy if we could only be at a place where the fans actually care to pack it.”
The post appeared to be deleted, and Kelly Leipold addressed it a few hours after it began to make its way around social media. She denied ever making the post, indicating that it was a fake.
“I have been informed there was a post made supposedly from my account,” she wrote. “This is not accurate. Let’s all focus on helping our Jayhawks get back on the winning track Friday night.

Lance Leipold is in his fourth season as the Kansas coach and has found plenty of success over the past couple of seasons. He led the Jayhawks their best season in 15 years in 2023 as they finished with a 9-4 record and won the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

It was speculated when the Nebraska job came open in 2022 that Leipold could be a candidate. However, he quelled those rumors by signing an extension through the 2029 season later that same year.
KU is coming off of a 23-17 loss to Illinois on Saturday that was disappointing given the expectations it entered the season with. The Jayhawks went from No. 19 in the country to dropping out of the AP poll.
However, with things looking down at the moment, Lance Leipold and his wife still have a firm commitment to the program and are looking to turn things back around. That begins with a matchup against UNLV on Friday.
