With the announcement that No. 1 ranked transfer prospect Caleb Williams will reunite with Lincoln Riley at USC, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is ready to hand over his title of “Portal King.” The short-lived joke started after the former USC coach, now in the SEC, landed a pair of former Trojans out of the transfer portal last week.

However, with the arrival of Caleb Williams in Los Angeles, Lane Kiffin is ready to hand over his crown and name Lincoln Riley the “Portal King” of 2022. He offered the title via a statement to Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.

“We can transfer that to him,” Kiffin said.

USC has now added 13 players out of the transfer portal this offseason, including three former Oklahoma players who followed their coach to his new destination. In addition, Riley was able to secure five Pac-12 transfers from the schools he will now compete against and two SEC linebackers from Alabama and Auburn.

Meanwhile, Ole Miss has assembled its own haul of transfer portal prospects. The Rebels bring 11 players in, along with the 2022 recruiting class to form a new-look roster for the upcoming season. With the departure of quarterback Matt Corral, former USC quarterback Jaxson Dart and his tight end Michael Trigg join Kiffin’s offense beside former five-star running back Zach Evans. The Rebels also brought in a pair of versatile players from SEC West rival Auburn too, with a handful of others committed from around the country.

With his innate ability to navigate the portal, Kiffin took to Twitter to share his newly-minted moniker of “Portal King.”

A play on the famous Tiger King series, Kiffin’s picture is a perfect example of why the coach is so easy to play for. Aside from his tremendous offensive mind, Kiffin has some pretty good comedic chops, as well.

Moreover, it is not the only hilarious tweet Kiffin has sent out regarding the transfer portal. On Sunday, Kiffin tweeted a photo of a sign on his office that read, “please check back later, I’m gone portaling.”

As you can see, Lane Kiffin is having as much fun with the transfer portal as anyone. Come next season, Ole Miss will look to build on their successful 2021 with the talent they have added this off-season.
