Before Florida State squared off against Boston College on Monday, an X account named “321nole” vowed to eat dog poop “out of a red solo cup with a spoon” if the Seminoles lost. On Monday evening, FSU fell 28-13 to the Eagles, and the internet was quick to remind the overzealous Florida State fan of his pledge.

On Tuesday, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin joined in on the fun, quoting a tweet of ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt commenting on the unusual situation. However, 321nole refused to respond to Kiffin or anybody else, deleting his account from X.

Although this particular Florida State fan’s plight was uniquely disgusting, he is far from the only member of the Seminoles faithful suffering. FSU is now 0-2, with both losses against unranked opponents.

It’s the first time since 2021 that Florida State has begun a season with back-to-back losses. Worse, Florida State’s performance on Monday gave fans little hope for a turnaround in the near future.

In the loss, the Seminoles’ defense gave up 369 yards and didn’t force any turnovers. On the other side of the ball, FSU struggled to find a rhythm, recording 293 total yards of offense and only converting three of its 14 third-down attempts.

After the game, FSU head coach Mike Norvell apologized to fans for the team’s nightmarish start to the season.

“I’m just sick to how this season started,” Norvell said. “Obviously, tonight I failed in preparing the team to be able to go out and respond tonight. The things that were necessary for us, the things we talked about, the things we emphasized, obviously, in all phases, we’re not able to execute.

“Obviously, didn’t put them in position to showcase what I believe this football team is. It’s extremely disappointing. I apologize to our fans, apologize to everybody associated with the program.”

Norvell’s apology didn’t save 321nole from receiving endless tags online, imploring him to follow through on his hyperbolic promise. And, unless the Seminoles rapidly right their ship, Norvell’s apology won’t save countless FSU fans from hours of pain, either.

Florida State will have a bye week to find its footing. However, more games are coming down the line whether the Seminoles are ready or not. On Sept. 14, FSU will square off against Memphis at noon ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
