There was a lot of hilarity involving Billy Napier and Lane Kiffin during pregame, via College GameDay.

After ESPN’s Pat McAfee offered to donate $1 million to hurricane relief, all Napier had to do was throw a football from the 25 yard line and hit the crossbar. Naturally, Napier missed it and Kiffin wasted no time trolling his opposing coach Saturday.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit revealed Kiffin texted him immediately after Napier missed the throw.

“Lane texted me,” Herbstreit said. “He’s getting ready to play Billy Napier. He said, ‘I would have hit the crossbar.'”

“Text Lane back,” host Rece Davis responded. “Tell him — ask him if he wants to win the SEC Championship. Ole Miss hasn’t won it since 1963.”

Man, what a shot by Davis. Napier missed the throw, Kiffin had the upper hand and then here comes Davis out of nowhere! Fun stuff on ESPN’s pregame show.

Ole Miss is in the top 10 and 8-2 on the season. To keep the SEC and College Football Playoff hopes alive, the Rebels have to keep winning. Kiffin might be using Davis’ message after his text as bulletin board material.

“I think we are peaking at the right time,” Kiffin said. “The last couple of games, obviously the Georgia game, a three-score win and a 30-point win at Arkansas. So I do think that we’re playing really well right now, which it’s exciting to be playing well at the end of the season, at any season, let alone when there’s a new playoff format. So that’s exciting.”

Even better for Ole Miss is the fact that the Rebels are as healthy as they’ve been all season after having a bye last weekend. They are set to get star receiver Tre Harris back against Florida. He leads the Rebels with 59 catches for 987 yards and six touchdowns, despite missing three straight games.

“I think we’re getting stronger, being out there. Tre now looking like he’s ready to go. We haven’t had him for 3.5 games,” Kiffin said. “And over that time I think Jaxson’s led the country in passing without him. So really excited to get the best receiver in the country back.”

In one of the bigger games of the day, especially as Kiffin and Ole Miss look to avoid the upset, the Rebels and Gators kickoff at 12:00 p.m. ET.
