Earlier this offseason, former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck transferred to Miami for a reported massive NIL deal. Beck has a $4.3 million On3 NIL valuation.

Despite Beck’s success at Georgia, not everybody is convinced he’s worth the money. During an appearance on The Pivot Podcast, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin poked fun at the alleged NIL deal between Beck and Miami.

“Miami gave him $4.3 million?” Kiffin said. “Did they watch his game against us?”

While Kiffin was smiling when he said it, he clearly remembered Beck’s lackluster performance. In the 28-10 loss, Beck recorded just 186 passing yards while absorbing five sacks. He failed to throw a touchdown but did throw an interception.

It wasn’t Beck’s only underwhelming performance in the 2024 campaign. In total, Beck recorded fewer passing yards and touchdowns last season than he did in 2023. Moreover, Beck only completed 64.7% of his pass attempts last season while connecting on a stunning 72.4% the year prior.

To pile on, Beck threw 12 interceptions last season while only throwing six in 2023. Although Beck’s season wasn’t necessarily a complete success, most fans still expected him to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Instead, Beck shocked the nation when he announced he was entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

It didn’t take long for Miami to snatch Beck out of the portal, replacing their Heisman candidate from this past season, QB Cam Ward. Beck is recovering this offseason after suffering a season-ending elbow injury in Georgia’s win over Texas in the SEC Championship last season.

Beck was cleared to begin physical activities on Monday. Earlier this offseason, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal raved about his new QB.

“He’s athletic, he’s smart, he’s got superior arm talent, he’s accurate, he can extend plays, he can also sit in the pocket, he runs well,” Cristobal said. “He’s a great human being and he’s demonstrated leadership qualities. He’s really hard on himself. He wants to be great, and one of his best qualities is that he wanted to be at Miami.”

No longer in the SEC, Carson Beck won’t have a chance to exact revenge on Lane Kiffin in the upcoming season. However, both teams will undoubtedly be hungry to reach the College Football Playoff and could meet there.

Miami narrowly missed the CFP last season after suffering a 42-38 loss to Syracuse in its regular-season finale. Now, with Beck leading the way, the Hurricanes will look to take the next step in the 2025 campaign.
