Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Caleb Williams will need to make a decision on where to transfer as deadlines to register for classes near. Since entering the transfer portal, Williams has been one of, if not the biggest storyline in all of college football.

According to On3’s Senior National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton, Williams is down to two potential destinations: USC and Wisconsin. Per Hamilton, Williams could be making a decision as early as this week.

Ever since Williams entered the portal, USC has been as a heavy favorite to land him. The Trojans hired former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley to the same position, and after Oklahoma’s season ended, Williams hit the portal.

Former USC quarterback Jaxson Dart has left the Trojans program and transferred to Ole Miss. Dart, a highly touted quarterback prospect, shocked many when he entered the portal. His decision led many to believe that Williams was going to be following his former head coach to USC. Kedon Slovis also transferred out of the USC program this offseason.

Williams replaced last year’s preseason Heisman favorite, Spencer Rattler, during Oklahoma’s game against Texas this season. The Sooners were led on a monumental comeback behind Williams, who threw for 212 yards with three total touchdowns in the win. The starting job belonged to Williams ever since.

As a true freshman in 2021, Williams threw for 1,912 yards with 21 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also had 442 yards and six scores on the ground.

Wisconsin fans tried to influence Williams’ decision over the weekend

Throughout Williams’ time in the transfer portal, nobody really saw Wisconsin as a possibility. But last week, On3’s Gerry Hamilton reported that the Badgers were truly a real possibility for Williams.

In Wisconsin’s home basketball game against Minnesota over the weekend, the Badgers faithful tried to send a message to Williams as he nears his transfer decision.

“We want Caleb,” the crowd chanted.

Former Wisconsin star running back Montee Ball also took to Twitter recently to try and influence Williams and his decision.

Williams is the top rated player to enter the transfer portal during this cycle, according to On3’s transfer portal player rankings. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives USC an 84.7 percent chance at landing Williams, giving Wisconsin a 14.8 percent chance.

Whichever school lands Williams will undoubtedly be getting a major talent at quarterback. As part of the 2021 recruiting class, Williams was rated as a five-star prospect and a top ten national recruit, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
