Lee Corso makes pick for Texas vs. Michigan, reveals what the difference will be in the game
Lee Corso made his pick for Texas and Michigan ahead of ESPN College GameDay and the former coach leaned towards the Longhorns.
One thing is for sure, Corso loves Texas and he loves non-conference games like this. He wanted more clash of styles in football from “the south and the north.”
In their weekly tradition, Corso spoke with Kirk Herbstreit ahead of ESPN’s pregame show backstage.
“I’ll tell you what, the difference is going to be Texas’ speed,” Corso said. “17-14. If I was Michigan, I would play boring, ball control offense. Keep the Longhorns on the sideline.”
Corso predicted a long scoring contest, no doubt due to Michigan’s elite defense. But the offense might still have some things to figure out.
Sometimes timing is everything in college football, and with that in mind, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was asked if there’s any advantages to facing a team like Michigan early in the season.
“I don’t know,” Sarkisian admitted during an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “There’s plenty of new faces and I think there’s one thing about Michigan, that what Coach [Jim] Harbaugh did and now what Coach [Sherrone] Moore is doing is. When you think about this program, it’s three consecutive years they’ve gone to the College Football Playoff. Naturally, that’s capped off last year with them being national champs.”

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore didn’t shy away from a big atmosphere facing Texas. The good news is, the defending champions are at home Saturday.
“We’re approaching it like a big game,” Moore said on The Pat McAfee Show. “We know it’s a great opponent. We’re excited about the atmosphere. But any big game that we’ve had, that we’ve been involved in, especially about the last few years, it’s always about our preparation and what we’ve done to get here. We’ve had a great week of practice, and excited before tomorrow.”
Corso might not think Michigan wins saturday, but the Wolverines have a shot. As he pointed out, if Davis Warren and the Wolverines offense plays ball control, it could be difficult for Texas to get into a rhythm.
Look for Donovan Edwards to get a healthy dose of carries to deny Quinn Ewers and the Texas offense many opportunities. Plus, the Michigan defense can certainly make things interesting.
Kickoff in Ann Arbor is set for 12:00 p.m. ET.
