ESPN College GameDay star Lee Corso is not in South Bend for the Indiana at Notre Dame game on Friday. However, Corso will be in Columbus Saturday morning for the Ohio State vs. Tennessee matchup.

Corso has missed multiple shows this season, including the first weekend of December on conference championship weekend. He was out that morning after undergoing a procedure earlier in the week, but host Rece Davis indicated he would return for the postseason.

As was hoped for, Lee Corso is back for the postseason, even if he isn’t doing the back-to-back shows. College GameDay is airing for four hours Friday afternoon and evening ahead of the College Football Playoff opener between Notre Dame and Indiana.

The show will then take place in Columbus Saturday morning, leading into Saturday’s loaded slate.

“We’ve got four hours today, Herbstreit’s got a beard. We don’t know if he’s going to shave before we get to Columbus,” ESPN College GameDay host Rece Davis joked. “We’re going to take you right up to kickoff. About four hours today. We’ve got three more hours tomorrow morning from Columbus. That is when Lee Corso will join us before the Ohio State-Tennessee game.”

Lee Corso, who is 89 years old, has appeared on College GameDay since its inception in 1987.

After suffering a stroke in 2009, Corso has occasionally missed weeks due to health issues. However, these absences have become more common in recent years despite College GameDay‘s best efforts to minimize Corso’s difficulties.

Most notably, Lee Corso concludes each episode of College GameDay by predicting who will win the Game of the Week and donning the mascot’s head of the team of his choice. College football fans will have to wait until Saturday for Corso to do that.

Comedian, actor Shane Gillis named ESPN College GameDay celebrity guest picker at Notre Dame

It is a busy weekend for ESPN College GameDay as the college football pregame show is taking place Friday afternoon in South Bend, before heading to Columbus to preview Saturday’s action.

ESPN College GameDay has announced that comedian and actor Shane Gillis will serve as the guest picker Friday afternoon ahead of the Indiana at Notre Dame game.

The Hoosiers and Irish are facing off in the first ever 12-team College Football Playoff game on Friday. This is also the first ever CFP game to be played on a school’s campus.

This is obviously a big deal, which is why College GameDay is holding two shows and bringing in a big-time comedian to discuss all of the action.
